Hydrogels are widely studied as materials for various biomedical applications like implant, drugs and cell delivery carriers. In situ forming hydrogel systems have received much attention due to many advantages. In this study, the very simple and fast in situ gel forming hydrogels composed of Tetronic-tyramine (Tetronic-TA) conjugates have been prepared. Tetronic-TA conjugates have been prepared using EDC/NHS chemistry. Tetronic-TA hydrogels were rapidly formed under physiological conditions in the presence of horseradish peroxidase and H2O2. Their physico-chemical properties have been characterized. The obtained results demonstrated that enzymatic cross-linking is an efficient way to obtain fast in situ gel forming hydrogels, suggesting that Tetronic-TA hydrogels are promising for use as injectable systems for tissue engineering and drug delivery. |
