In situ shell crosslinked Tetronic micelles for drug delivery and magnetic resonance imaging |

Recent advanced polymeric micelles have been investigated for the development of multifunctional nanocarriers for diagnostic imaging and drug delivery. In this study, the indomethacin(IMC) and superparamagnetic iron oxide(SPIO) loaded micelles were prepared to enhance micelle stability by in situ shell cross-linking. The shell crosslinked micelles were prepared in aqueous solution in presence of horseradish peroxidase and hydrogen peroxide. The TEM images showed that clusters of SPIO were present in the core of the micelles. The hysteresis curves demonstrate that the micelles were superparamagnetic with insignificant hysteresis. The IMC release test showed that the enzymatically shell crosslinking provided enhanced stability and controlled drug release behavior. The IMC and SPIO loaded micelles with shell crosslinking can be potentially developed with the multifunctional properties of drug delivery and diagnostic imaging. |
