Characterization of TiO2 nanofibers in the Unidirectional Multi-layered hollow Membrane assisted Sol-gel process |

TiO2 nanofiber was coated in the unidirectional multi-layered hollow membrane. Multi-layered hollow membrane as a substrate was fabricated by a multi-pass extrusion method from Al2O3/ZrO2 composite system. The Al2O3/ZrO2 hollow membrane had suitable pore size and surface roughness for fabrication of hollow membrane. Pore size of hollow membrane had about 190µm in diameter. TiO2 nanofiber was directly coated from TiO2 slurry which contained titanium tetra isoproxide(TTIP) as TiO2 precursor. After dipping into TiO2 forming precursor liquid, the TiO2 coated unidirectional porous substrate was aged in NaOH solution to grow the TiO2 nanofibers from TiO2 particles. During the aging process, many TiO2 whiskers came out through chemical reaction. Depending on the aging time, the morphology of TiO2 whiskers was dramatically changed. The investigations formation of TiO2 nanofibers depending on the aging time and temperature of multi-layered unidirectional Al2O3-ZrO2/TiO2 porous body were carried out using XRD, SEM, TEM and EDS techniques. |
