Synthesis and characterization of Polypyrrole/Polystyrene sulfonate using filter paper |

Polypyrrole/poly (4-styrene sulfonate) (PPy/PSS) were synthesized by aqueous chemical oxidation polymerization of pyrrole diffused inside filter paper with various pore sizes. The filter paper was utilized as a key to control the diffusion speed of initiator and molecular weight of PSS. Comparing to bulk PPy/PSS, the resultant PPy/PSS shows the high crystallinity on the X-ray diffraction analysis. The optical and electrical properties were investigated using UV–vis–NIR absorption spectroscopy and four-point probe analyzer. The electrical conductivities of the resulting PPy/PSS were gradually enhanced with the increase of reaction time. The electrical capacitance was also analyzed as a function of pore size at a fixed pH. |
