Many complex control methods(for example, H infinite Robust control, MPC, and so on) have been applied to a physiological diabetic model. This paper suggests that the optimal PID controller can be used simply in the insulin control for IDDM(Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus) type I patients. We estimate the PID tuning parameters for the diabetic patient model using the the Levenberg-Marquardt optimization method and control the patients models with uncertainties. From the results, the PID tuning parameters from the nominal model guarantees the satisfactory performance in the allowable ranges for the patient models with uncertainties. The model with uncertainties can be identified as the second order plus time delay(SOPTD) model. From the SOPTD model patameters, the allowable range can be defined. Although the PID control is not easy to obtain the better performance than the MPC and the robust H-infinite control, the PID control algorithm guarantees the reasonable performance. |
