Monoolein (MO) cubic phase (CP) including Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam extract (BCT), hydrophobically modified gelatin (HmGel), and hydrophobically modified alginate (HmAlg) was prepared by a melt and hydration method. The degree of hydrophobization of HmGel and HmAlg was confirmed by 1H-NMR and TNBS method. The transmission electron microscopy micrographs of CP containing BCT, HmGel and HmAlg showed no significant difference. The phase transition temperature of MO CP was 65.3 ℃. The phase transition temperature of monoolein cubic phase loaded with BCT, HmGel, and HmAlg was decreased by 1-5 ℃. BCT release on MO CP with HmGel and HmAlg was inhibited at pH 4.5 and BCT release was accelerated at pH 5.5 and pH 7.4. BCT release was inhibited by complex coacervate formation of HmGel and HmAlg under acidic conditions. |
