Interest in esthetics of skin tissue is a growing issue for women in modern society. Accordingly, demand on biocompatible materials that can repair damaged skin tissue is rapidly increasing. In this study, series of chitosan/collagen composite films were prepared by varying the blend ratio of the two ingredients. In order to stabilize the blend films, chitosan and collagen were cross-linked using glutaraldehyde. The surface morphology, pore structure, swelling behavior, surface hydrophilicity, and chemical states of the films were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscope, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), contact angle measurements. Our results demonstrated that chitosan/collagen blend films improved not only physical strength but biological performance. |
