제목 Zero valent iron catalyst for oxidative conversion of methane into methanol
초록 Global warming is the greatest problem faced by humankind at the beginning of 21st century.  As research be certain of, this global warming is due to emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4) and other greenhouse gases which ae majorly emitted by coal burning.  An alternative way must be established in order to avoid fossil fuel utilization to minimize global warming and associated problems. Our approach is to produce methanol in single step by potassium persulfate (K2S2O8) generated methyl radicals by means of redox reaction catalyzed by zero valent metals. Zero valent metals involve in redox reaction with methyl radicals. A water diluted ionic liquid medium was used for reaction in order to boost the reaction by means of stabilizing the radicals. Oxidative conversion of methane by this system was very effective to produce 420 mg of methanol with just 0.5 mmol of employed zero valent Fe metal at temperature as low as 50 0C. This work was supported by Basic Science Research Program through the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) funded by the Ministry of Education, (NRF-2016R1D1A1B03930855).
