After commercialization of foldable smartphones, the industry of flexible electronics have been expanding in the market. However, the rigid adhesives used in conventional electronics are unsuitable for assembly of flexible components. Therefore, development of elastic pressure sensitive adhesives (PSAs) is critical to commercialization of flexible electronics. In this study, UV curable acrylate-based PSAs were synthesized PSAs using 2-carboxyethyl acrylate (CEA) as a functional monomer. The synthesized PSAs achieved exceptional adhesive strength (~35 N/25mm) and exhibited high optical clearance (>95%) in the visible light range. Pre-straining strategy was implemented for rapid restoration, and the pre-strain of 10% exhibited instantaneous strain recovery. The pre-strained PSAs can withstand 5000 cycles of repetitive folding and stretching test. Therefore, the synthesized PSAs can be utitlized in stretchable displays and epidermal devices. |
