Preparation and Characterization of Lyocell Fiber based on Cotton Linter |
초록 |
Lyocell is well known to be produced through an eco-friendly process which enables nearly complete NMMO recovery during dry-jet spinning when compared with a viscose rayon process polluting the air due to H2S and CS2 release. Wood pulp based Lyocell, however, has several fatal demerits such as forest destruction and easy fibrillation in the wet state. By the way, when we replaced wood pulp by sustainable cotton linter pulp, we could obtain a novel regenerated cellulose fiber with a conventional Lyocell process. This new Lyocell fiber is not only eco-friendly, but also is found to be much less fibrillated. To date cotton linter based Lyocell has not been reported. So in this study we focus our attention on the comparison of wood pulp and cotton linter based Lyocell fibers with physico-chemical aspects and the low fibrillation mechanism.
