Conventional silane adhesion promoters were commonly used for improving adhesive strength between dissimilar materials. However, their drawbacks were identified as slow drying speed under room temperature, requirement of high temperature for curing, and not productive for industrial scaled fabrication. Therefore, customers are demanding new generation of adhesion promoters, which can surpass those disadvantages. In our study, alkoxysilane functionalized polymer precursor (APAS) and other alkoxysilanes were synthesized via sol-gel process to obtain O-I hybrid adhesion promoters. The properties of various hybrid materials such as particle size distribution, touch drying speed, degree of condensation, molecular weight, and adhesive strength were characterized by dynamic light scattering test, Si29-NMR, MALDI-TOF, and shear strength test. |
