Metal nanoparticles (NPs) are considered as promising functional materials in broad application area, as bio or catalytic materials. Through appropriate surface modification techniques, the performance of those metal NPs can be highly enhanced. Herein, we prepared dopamine-conjugated silica nanospheres, which have adhesive-like property, immobilizing metal NPs on their surface. When supported on various size silica backbone, metal NPs remained stable. The properties of metal NPs were intact, indicating that dopamine coated silica NPs have ability to be used as a metal NPs immobilizing platform, with functional NPs on their surface. |
