In Vivo Release of Bovine Serum Albumin From a Small Intestinal Submucosa Gel |
초록 |
Delivery systems capable of maintaining a sustained release of protein drugs at specific sites can potentially circumvent problems of toxicity and subtherapeutic local dosing levels associated with systemic administration. Small intestinal submucosa (SIS) derived from the submucosa layer of porcine intestine has widely used as biomaterial with minimum immune response. Here, we explored the potential utility of an injectable SIS gel as a drug depot for bovine serum albumin (BSA). BSA loaded SIS solutions were prepared at room temperature. The solution was gelled when subcutaneously injected into rats, then forming three-dimensional network structure that showed sustained release of BSA for 20 days in vivo. Then BSA-loaded SIS gels was higher BSA bioavailability than BSA only solutions. SIS gel did not provoke a significant inflammatory response. Thus, injectable SIS gel system may provide numerous benefits as a minimally invasive therapeutics drug depot. |
