Inorganic nano-particles modified with organosilane coupling agents are useful as fillers for rubber composite. Recently, the nano-silica treated with S4[CH2CH2CH2Si(OEt)3]2 (TESPT) has been widely used as reinforcing fillers in BR based composites. However, it is known that TESPT cannot be completely hydrolyzed in the modification step. its incomplete hydrolysis can cause volatile organic compounds (VOC) in rubber composite. Thus, we studied the hydrolysis of TESPT and modification of inorganic particles. In this study, the first, TESPT was hydrolyzed and then treated nanosilica affording hydrophobic and reactive modified silica applicable to polymer composite. In addition, we compared the properties of silica-filled SBR in situ with modified silica-filled SBR. |
