Synthesis of W-doped VO2(M) nanoparticles with high luminous transmittance for smart window |

Vanadium dioxide(VO2) is an ideal thermochromic material with a relatively low reversible critical phase transition temperature(Tc) of 68℃. At this Tc VO2 can change its optical properties and the Tc of VO2 can be tuned to desired temperature by doping with Mo, W, Nb and F etc. These properties make VO2 useful for application to optical switching devices and smart windows. But it has difficulty in use for smart window because of its complex method and low luminous transmittance. The smaller size of particle has advantage of dispersion and it can cause high luminous transmittance in use for smart window. In this study, we prepared W-doped VO2 with small particle size by hydrothermal-assisted method. Hydrothermal-assisted method is unnecessary additional heat treatment and its reaction time was also reduced by using reducing agent. The particle size of W-doped VO2 was decreased by regulating its pH and FE-SEM images show that W-doped VO2 has a quasi-spherical shape with size under 50nm. To confirm the structure and Tc of the W-doped VO2, XRD and DSC analysis were also carried out. |
