In order to overcome the demerit of conventional forming method, pressureless forming method was investigated and the addition of zirconia to beta-alumina substantially improves physical properties without compromising the superionic's electrical properties. Preforms of α-alumina/YSZ composites were prepared by slip casting method, and then preforms were infiltrated by alkali molten salts in vacuum state. Each infiltrated specimens were heated for synthesis of Na+-beta-alumina/YSZ composites and sintered specimens was characterized with surface microstructure(SEM) and phase fraction(XRD). |
