Although PLLA has been dominantly used as a biomaterial, there are limitations for the biodegradable stent with respect to the degradation time, mechanical properties, or water adsorption, etc. Polymer blend has been studied to improve and modify physical properties of a bulk polymer. PLLA-b-PEG-b-PLLA and PLLA-b-PEG polymers have interesting properties such as sol-gel transition, water absorption, and physical properties which are tailored by the molecular weight and ratio. Therefore, the di-/tri-block copolymers were prepared by using methoxy-PEG and PEG as an initiator. PLLA blend films with the copolymers fabricated by a solvent cast method at various ratios were characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, GPC, and Universal mechanical test. The biodegradability and water absorption ratio were measured at 37 ℃ for 2 months. As a consequence, the PLLA blend might be applied for a biodegradable stent. |
