제목 Fabrication of Hard Coating Layer for In-mold Decoration (IMD) Foil and The Characteristics of IMD Foil Layers with EB irradiation
초록 This study was focused on a practical use of the electron beam (EB) curing system for a new kind of In-mold decoration (IMD) foil. We realize a ultra-hard coating layer for IMD foil via establishment of the dispersion technique of alumina nanoparticles. The silane coupling agent, 3-(trimethoxysilyl) propyl methacrylate (γ-MPTS) was grafted on the surface of alumina nanoparticles. We used the modified nanoparticles in the hard coating layer and evaluated the coating properties. The effects of EB irradiation on color layer and anchor layer of IMD foils were observed through the difference in color and the cross-cut tape test, respectively. Also, cure kinetics were studied quantitatively under various reaction temperatures by analysis of surface properties and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. From these results, we constructed database for the commercial exploitation of EB curing system.
