제목 Effect of Hydrophilic defect induced UIO-66 in dehydration performance
초록 Polymer membranes often display trade-off effects between flux and selectivity in pervaporation (PV) therefore exploring the strategies for breaking the effects is crucial. In this study, hydrophilic defect induced with different size UIO-66 particle were engineered and blended into poly (vinyl alcohol) matrix to fabricate water-selective membrane for isopropyl alcohol (IPA) dehydration via PV technology. Hydrophilic Defect in UIO-66 was formed by making a missing link between ligand and metal cluster. As a result, UIO-66 with small size, had a highest defect density compared to large and medium size, hence uniformly distributed small size UIO-66 MMM showed strong interaction with water and enhanced the sorption as well as smooth diffusion through the tuned pore was enough to break trade-off effect. In the PV out put; small sized UIO-66 with 4% loading PVA MMM showed 11.6% and 22.8% increased of flux and separation factor respectively with that of compared to virgin PVA membrane.
