Influence of preparation condition on characteristics of Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalysts |

Palladium have characteristics for high active, selectivity. But it should use highly dispersed on the support. Because of limited resource and high price. γ-Al2O3 is widely used as catalyst support due to their high surface area and thermal stability. In this study, we confirmed the effect of precipitation pH of precursor solution on the dispersion and particle size of Pd. The Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by deposition-precipitation method with different precipitation pH, which was adjusted from 3.5 to 11.5 by adding NaOH solution. The prepared Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalysts investigated by XRD, N2-physisorption, FE-TEM and CO-Chemisorption. From these results, Pd/γ-Al2O3 catalyst at pH 5.5 has the highest Pd dispersion of 43.1% and uniform Pd distribution. As a result, we suggest that the pH of precipitation is related to growth of the Pd nuclei. The growth rate of the Pd nuclei has the effect on interaction of Pd with γ-Al2O3. It is played important role on the dispersion of Pd. |
