Activated carbon supported Pt catalysts have attracted much attention in the chemical industry. It is well known that particle size and distribution of metal are important factors to determine the catalytic activity and selectivity. Herein, we confirmed the effect of pH value on particle size and distribution of Pt. The activated carbon was pretreated with H2SO4 and HNO3 solution at 30 ℃ for 90 min, was then washed with distilled water until pH =5. The Pt/C catalysts were prepared by deposition-precipitation method with different pH value, which were adjusted from 3.5 to 11.5 by adding NaOH solution. The prepared Pt/C catalysts were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, N2-physisorption, CO-chemisorption and FE-TEM. The CO-chemisorption results showed that Pt/C catalyst with the pH value adjusted to 9.5 showed the highest Pt dispersion of 28.6%. We suggest that the pH value affects the hydrolysis rate of the Pt precursor and the interaction of Pt and activated carbon. |
