When it was compared with conventional heat exchangers, compact heat exchangers that consisted of microchannels have demonstrated a excellent heat transfer performance. Because the microchannels reduced the flow channels to micron dimensions, it was possible to increase the surface area available for heat transfer and reduce the thickness of the fluid boundary layer. In this study, microchannel dimensions have machined 400 μm width by 700 μm depth on metal foils with ultraprecision machining method and the metal foils were stacked and consolidated an one cell structure by diffusion bonding, so then fluids were flowed a cross flow direction. |
