Novel room-temperature synthesis process is proposed by in-situ incorporation of sulfur and iron elements onto the magnetic-field induced ultralong nickel nanowires for highly efficient bi-functional freestanding electrodes. The surface of self-assembled ultralong nickel nanowires is reconstructed by room-temperature solution-processing by generating partially sulfur-doped bimetallic Ni1Fe10.8 hydroxide phase, which is highly efficient in both HER and OER simultaneously. Benefiting from the self-supporting monolithic characteristics and a proper binding energy estimated by density-functional theory (DFT), it exhibits a superior bi-functional activity with a low overpotential of 67 mV for HER, and 184 mV at 50 mA cm-2 for OER, respectively. |
