Construction and control of hydrogel inner networks by thermal and photopolymerization in polyphosphazene gels |

Hydrogel inner network plays a major role in sustained release of loaded drug and in tissue engineering. In the present work, we designed and developed thermosensitive and in situ photocrosslinkable polyphosphazene gels bearing of hydrophobic isoleucine ethyl ester group, hydrophilic α-amino-ω-methoxy-poly(ethylene glycol) along with photocrosslinkable amino ethyl methacrylate on Polydichlorophosphazene. All synthesized polymers exhibited thermosensitive gelation and upon photopolymerization resulted in the formation of compact gel. SEM (scanning electron microscopy) data indicate that the crosslinked hydrogel pore size and pore density were depended on the degree of methacrylate substitution and gel strength. Nude mouse experiments showed that the photopolymerization can be achieved within 5 minutes in in vivo conditions. As a whole, these results reveal that the hydrogels inner network can be tuned and these gels may be used as matrix for drug delivery and tissue culture. |
