Recently, the fabrication of polymeric microcapsules ranging from nano to micrometer with uniform characteristics has attained considerable interest, specifically for drug delivery applications. Here, a polymeric microcapsule was successfully produced in a crossed microchannel network, with the solution of (PS-b-PMMA) block copolymer obtained by ATRP. We used the droplet phase flow for the formation of polymer capsules. Due to the hydrodynamic instability, the introduction of immiscible fluids forms uniform droplets in the microchannel and we extend this fluidic behavior to the fabrication of polymeric microcapsules. The spherical polymer droplets were farmed at the T-junction microchannel and its generation behavior were extensively examined. The droplet generation was visualized by using a fluorescent microscope. The hollow cavity of the microcapsules was characterized by the SEM image obtained after O2 plasma ashing. The morphological studies were also carried out using FE-SEM |
