제목 Preparation and Evaluation of Exfoliated Polycarbonate / Organoclay Nanocomposites by Using SPS Ionomers as Compatibilizer
초록 Sulfonated polystyrene (SPS) ionomers were prepared by incorporating 3.0 mole % of sulfonate groups with various cations on polystyrene back bone. PC/organoclay nanocomposites were prepared by solution intercalation process using SPS incomers as a compatibilizer. The effect of SPS ionomer loadings and cation type on miscibility and interactions with layered silicate in SPS ionomers/PC/organoclay nanocomposites were studied. The intercalation/exfoliation efficiency of organically modified clay with miscible blends were studied using wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The dispersion of the organically modified clay in the polymer matrix was improved with an increase in the ionomer loadings and cation size. SPS ionomer/PC/organoclay nanocomposite showed enhanced melt crystallization behavior compared to SPS ionomer/PC blend. Ionomer/PC/organoclay nanocomposites showed better thermal stability than the pure SPS ionomer/PC blend.
