Effect of Manufacturing Conditions on the pH-sensitive Release Behavior of Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Poly(acrylic acid) Microcapsules Containing Theophyline |

The pH-sensitive drug release behavior of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) / poly(acrylic acid) (PAAc) microcapsules was studied in terms of the manufacturing conditions such as the content of emulsifier and the stirring rate. In this work, pH-sensitive poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) / poly(acrylic acid) (PAAc) microcapsules containing theophyline inside were prepared by using water-in-oil emulsion polymerization. The preparation of microcapsules containing drugs was confirmed by FT-IR spectra. The morphology of the microcapsules was studied by image analyzer and scanning electron microscope. The controlled release of theophyline from the microcapsules was investigated by UV/VIS spectroscopy. |
