제목 Three-phase interface with hydrophilic-hydrophobic combined TiO2 Vo@PNIPAm hydrogel for enhanced photocatalytic ammonia synthesis
초록 The photocatalytic NH3 production is still insufficient for practical applicability due to two main challenges: (1) the adsorption and the activation of inert N2 molecules, (2) the intense competition with the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, we design hydrophilic-hydrophobic combined TiO2 Vo@PNIPAm hydrogel that possess reversible hydrophilic-hydrophobic change upon environmental temperature. These distinctions affect the NRR performance because of varying water accessibility on photocatalyst surface. TiO2 Vo @ PNIPAm hydrogel at 26 ℃ achieved the highest NH3 production at 11.12 mol g-1 h-1, resulting from optimal water accessibility with high N2 coverage to build three phase for N2 (gas), water (liquid), photocatalyst (solid). Conversely, at different temperature (10,40, and 60 ℃), the NRR performance decreases exponentially because optimal water transfer on photocatalyst surface is limited.This study investigated how the amount of water contents on photocatalyst surface affected the NRR performance and provide novel strategies to achieve enhanced NRR performance in the presence of water.
