Poly(vinylidene fluoride)(PVDF) has been studied as a representative piezoelectric polymer exhibiting the largest permittivity. However, the piezoelectric material using only PVDF has a relatively low mechanical properties and exhibits lower piezoelectricity than a ceramic piezoelectric materials. In this study, thermoplastic composites were prepared using PVDF and highly oriented liquid crystal polymer polyarylate(PAR). The piezoelectric composite was prepared by compression molding of the PVDF/PAR sheath-core fiber. The composite was molded by a hot-press under various molding condition and its were analyzed mechanical and piezoelectric properties. In order to improve its piezoelectric coefficient, which is relatively lower than that of the ceramic piezoelectric material, ZnO was coated on the PVDF/PAR composites prepared under the optimum composite molding conditions. |
