제목 | Chemically Modified CNF/Polymer Composite as a Biodegradable Fiber |
초록 | Cellulose nanofibers(CNFs) are biomaterial with high aspect ratios and mechanical strength. These physical properties make CNF an ideal composite material for reinforcements. One standard method used for producing CNF involves the introduction of carboxylic groups. While these carboxylic groups aid the separation of cellulose fibrils, it poses a challenge when blending with hydrophobic synthetic polymers. To circumvent this problem, we grafted hydrophobic moieties(n-hexylamine, n-dodecylamine) onto CNFs via EDC/NHS chemistry. The modified CNFs were blended with biodegradable polymers and spun into a composite fiber. The effect of the newly introduced hydrophobic groups was assessed by comparing the mechanical properties, chemical structure, and crystallinity of the produced fibers. |
