To enhance the thermal conductivity of epoxy resins, the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol(BP) is synthesized for improving the crystallinity and their thermal properties are compared with commercial biphenol type epoxy. These different type of epoxy resins cured with various hardeners such as 4,4'-Diamino-2,2'-dimethylbiphenyl (m-Tolidine), Diaminodiphenylsulphone (DDS), 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM), 2,6-diaminopyridine (DAP). The thermal conductivity of BP resin are higher than commercial epoxy resin due to the π-π stacking of introduced mesogenic groups. The infrared (IR) and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) are used for characterization of synthesized BP resin. The curing temperature with different curing agents of epoxy is examined using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). To analyze relationship between crystallinity and thermal conductivity, morphologies are observed by transmittance electron microscope (TEM) and thermal diffusivity was measured with the laser flash method. |
