제목 | A Study on Polyamic acids Prepared from Various Functional diamines for Vertically Aligned Liquid Crystal Display Device |
초록 | A series of polyamic acid had been prepared from cyclobutane-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylic dianhydride [CBDA] and aromatic diamines with flexible side chain as shown in scheme 1, which can be used for vertically aligned liquid crystal alignment. All polyamic acids were imidized at high temperature on hot plate. Thermal properties, transparency as well as surface tension of resulting polyimides thin layer were determined. Further, we had also investigated relationship of several electro-optic properties required for liquid crystal display device and type of connecting group of the diamines. The polyimides showed excellent transparency above 90% and they revealed high glass transition temperature above 200℃. It was shown that pretilt angles were not affected by the type of connecting group between phenyl ring and n-hexadecyl group in the side chains. On the otherhands, VHR and RDC were deeply related with polarizability of the diamines. Scheme 1. Synthesis of polyamic acids from aromatic diamines with n-hexadecyl group in side chain |
