제목 | Synthesis and characterization of Ag/TiO2 nanoparticle with high photocatalytic activity under simulated visible light |
초록 | Silver(Ag)-modified TiO2 nanocomposite particles were synthesized by photochemical deposition process. Characterization of the Ag/TiO2 was performed using field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS). It was found that Ag particles were uniformly distributed on the surface of the TiO2 with less than 3 nm in diameter. The photocatalytic activity of Ag/TiO2 nanoparticle composites was investigated using methylene blue (MB) dye solution under simulated visible light. The composite nanoparticles exhibited enhanced visible light-induced photocatalytic activity compared to that of pure TiO2. The enhanced activity is attributed to simultaneous effects of nano-Ag deposits by increasing the absorption capacity in visible region and acting as electron trappers to promote charge separation of photoinduced electrons (e-) and holes (h+).
