제목 Tumor Therapeutic Effect of Thermo-Responsive Melanin Hydrogels as a Photothermal Therapeutic Agent
초록  In this study, we suggest thermo-responsive melanin hydrogels as a photothermal therapeutic agent for cancer treatment. Thermo-responsive polymer solution containing melanin (MEL sol.) formed a hydrogel at body temperature and showed excellent photothermal effects when exposed to near infrared (NIR) 808 nm irradiation. MEL sol. with various concentration was incubated with CT 26 cells. The majority of cells were destroyed after the laser exposure at 1.5 W/cm2 for 3 min. Following intratumoral injection of MEL sol. into tumors of xenograft-bearing mice, near infrared (NIR) 808 nm laser was irradiated at 1.5 W/cm2 for 3 min to the tumor tissue. After laser irradiation, MEL sol. induced photothermal tumor ablation and the tumor tissues were successfully destroyed. As a result, we anticipated that thermo-responsive melanin solution could become an attractive PTT agent for cancer therapy.
