There are objectives in order to achieve green growth. First is to sustain growth while minimizing our use of energy and natural resources. Second is minimizing greenhouse gases and pollutants when using conventional energy. And finally, green technology and clean energy must be developed into new growth engines. These three objectives, however create some key challenges. Namely, how to diversify the energy supply and increase energy efficiency while lowering greenhouse gas emissions SK Energy is developing a new coal gasification technology utilizing low-grade coal with minimum CO2 emissions and pollutants, and the next generation biofuels to diversify energy supply. Also, to mitigate emissions and increase energy efficiency, SK Energy developed a way to use CO2 to make polymers and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries for electric-powered vehicles and smart grid systems. |
