As petroleum resource was exhausted, and increasing greenhouse gas emissions, there is a growing interest in the synthesis and development of biopolymers from biomass derived monomers. In the present study, we attempted to synthesize poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) alternative biopolymer. The PET alternative biopolymer was synthesized a two-step procedure (esterification and polycondensation) using dimethyl terephthalate, succinic acid and ethylene glycol by taking different ratio of monomers. Synthesized biopolymer was characterized by means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and calculated the molecular weight by high-temperature gel permeation chromatography. Finally we were evaluated thermal behavior by differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) and thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA). |
