제목 Fabrication and Characterization of the Ti-BCP Composites by Vacuum Sintering
초록 Both titanium and calcium phosphate based materials are widely accepted as biomaterials with their respective excellent mechanical features and biocompatibility. Although the Ti metal has superior mechanical properties along with its excellent biocompatibility, it still has the problem of bio-inertness and lack of tendency of osteo-integration. On the other hand, despite the excellent bio-resorption behavior as being an integral constituent of the natural bone, the mechanical properties of calcium phosphate ceramics are not reliable enough for post operative load bearing application in human hard tissue defect site. One reasonable approach would be to mediate the features of the two by making a composite. CaP/Ti ceramic-metal composites were fabricated by vacuum sintering after mixing the two powders. Composites with 10~50 % of CaP was fabricated. Detailed microstructural characteristics were investigated by SEM, XRD. Material properties like relative density, hardness, fracture toughness, compressive strength, elastic modulus etc. were characterized.
