Durability improvement of Passenger Airbag Door for Automotive Interior Parts |

The demand for automotive passenger safety has recently expanded, the rate of passenger airbag installation increase. Passenger airbag(PAB) is consist of Door, Chute and Module. In this study, PAB Door & Chute are developed using the same materials with Instrument Panel in order to recycle materials of interior parts. PAB Door & Chute are used local reinforcement system(LRS) because of highly the required properties. PAB Door & Chute of three type are fabricated according to woven shapes(square, diagonal and dense type). Mechanical properties of PAB Door & Chute are measured by UTM and Izod impact tester. In order to predict crack expansion, high speed impact tests are in progress after durability test. The max energy of the PAB Door & Chute after durability test is 5% higher than that of the pristine materials. The results of the heat resistance cycle test for the prototype manufactured in this study showed no displacement or discoloration. |
