제목 Intercalation Polymerization and Layer-by-Layer Self-Assembled Nanocomposites of Substituted Ionic Polyacetylenes with Layered Aluminosilicates
초록 Intercalation complexes of a conjugated substituted polyacetylene and montmorillonite were prepared through spontaneous polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine intercalated into the galleries of montmorillonite as shown by FT-IR and UV/vis absorption spectroscopy. Protons are thought to be at the origin of spontaneous polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine. X-ray data support the model of a single inserted polyacetylene layer with the backbone extended “flat” on the lamellar surface and pyridine rings of the repeating unit oriented nearly perpendicularly to the surface. Multilayer ordered nanocomposites have been also prepared by electrostatic layer-by-layer assembly of exfoliated aluminosilicate nanoplatelets and substituted ionic polyacetylenes. Aluminosilicate saponite particles were exfoliated by means of extensive shaking and sonication of their water suspension. Atomic force microscopy and transmission electron microscopy data suggest that the exfoliated platelets have the shape of ultrathin (~1nm) disks with an average width of 170±30 nm. Several pyridine-substituted ionic polyacetylenes with various alkyl chain lengths attached to the nitrogen in the pyridine ring were synthesized by spontaneous polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine quaternized with alkyl bromide. Linear build-up of layer-by-layer assembled nanocomposites of exfoliated saponite particles and of substituted ionic polyacetylenes was monitored by UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy. AFM surface topography of the resulting films indicate that saponite platelets cover the entire surface of the underlying layers and are oriented "flat" on the surface. TEM cross-sectional images of such systems indicate that layer-by-layer deposition of exfoliated saponite particles and substituted ionic polyacetylenes produce a stratified multilayer nanocomposite structure. Polarized UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy suggests that the polyacetylene chains are oriented parallel to the surface of saponite layers.
