Preparation of ZnS-CdS/ZnO nanocomposite and its activity and stability for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes |

The ZnS-CdS/ZnO nanoparticles were successfully prepared by a precipitation method and used as photocatalysts in photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes, such as methyl orange and methylene blue, under UV and visible light irradiation. The CdS having narrow direct band gap was used as a photosensitizing agent and ZnS was also used to increase the efficiency and stability of the system. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The light absorption spectra of prepared samples extend to the visible light range. The ZnO/ZnS-CdS nanocomposites as photocatalysts exhibit considerable activity and recycle stability for photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes under visible light as well as UV irradiation. |
