Poly(vinyl acetate-b-sodium styrenesulfonate) (poly(VAc-b-SSNa)) diblock copolymer was synthesized in order to prepare the blend membranes with poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVdF) for fuel cell. For the block copolymer, poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) with trichloromethyl end group was obtained via telomerization of vinyl acetate with carbon tetrachloride as a telogen and 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as an initiator. Then, resulting PVAc with trichloromethyl end group was used as an efficient macroinitiator for the synthesis of poly(VAc-b-SSNa) with SSNa using atom transfer radical polymerzation (ATRP) in the presence of CuCl/2,2-bipyridine at 130℃. The PVAc macroinitiator, poly(VAc-b-SSNa) were characterized and identified by GPC, FT-IR and 1H-NMR. |
