Recently, an electrospray coating process has been widely applied in biomedical applications, especially in tissue engineering and drug delivery system. In the study, Paclitaxel eluting metal stents for treatment of biliary benign stenosis were developed by means of an electrospray-coating method and polyether-based polyurethane(pellethane) and paclitaxel were coated onto the surface of a metallic stent and a topcoat of PVP K-90 and PEG were used as a barrier to control drug release. Characterization of multi layered film was analyzed by SEM, DSC. X-RAY, AFM. Cumulative release amounts of paclitaxel were measured using HPLC. The result of in vitro release from paclitaxel eluting biliary stents showed that all the paclitaxel exhibited a nearly linear sustained-release profile with no significant burst releases within the measurement period. |
