Preparation of Ag doped TiO2 and their photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue |

In this work, we prepared Ag doped TiO2 nanoparticles (Ag/TiO2) with different Ag contents using silver nitrate by a modified sol-gel method. Silver was introduced into the TiO2 surfaces via decomposition of AgNO3 during thermal treatment in air atmospheres. Effect of Ag doping in the crystallization of the TiO2 nanoparticles was studied using XRD. And their morphologies were observed by SEM measurements. The photocatalytic activities of Ag/TiO2 samples were tested using methylene blue (MB) solution under UV and visible light irradiation. From the results, it was apparent that photocatalytic activities of Ag/TiO2 are higher than a non-treated TiO2 due to a higher concentration of OH radicals on TiO2 surfaces. |
