제목 Controlled Release of Granule Tablet Metformin HCl using Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and Carboxymethylcellulose with Various Viscosity
초록 Metformin hydrochloride(MFHCl) is an oral anti-hyperglycemic agent and is highly soluble in water. We prepared the granule tablets of MFHCl in the sustained release dosage form and evaluated their physicochemical properties. MFHCl tablets were prepared with HPMC and CMC with various viscosity and the effects of their viscosity on the drug release was investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry(DSC), x-ray powderdiffractometry(XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR), swelling test and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) were employed to investigate the physicochemical characterization of the MFHCl in the granule tablets with various viscosity of additives. In vitro release of MFHCl in intestinal fluid(pH 6.8). HPMC and CMC showed various in vitro drug release patterns based on the viscosity. In general, however, the increase of the viscosity of polymer excipients resulted in the increase of swelling and the reduction of in vitro drug release.
