We have investigated on the effect of the interfacial concentration, the molecular weight, and the structure of poly(methyl methacrylate)-graft-polystyrene (PMMA-g-PS) in-situ formed in the mono-carboxylated polystyrene (PS-mCOOH)/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) blend with various amounts of poly(methyl methacrylate-ran-glycidyl methacrylate) (PMMA-GMA) on the blend morphology. From scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the blends, it can be concluded that large amount of an in-situ compatibilizer with smaller number of reactive group per a chain is better in the efficiency of compatibilization than small amount of an in-situ compatibilizer with larger number of reactive group per a chain. Also we measured the interfacial tension between poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) and polystyrene (PS) with various amounts of poly(styrene-ran-glycidyl methacrylate) (PS-GMA) by Newman triangle (NT) method. As the amount of PS-GMA in PS phase increased, the interfacial tension between PBT and PS phase decreased.
