The iron based spent catalyst was examined to evaluate the possibility for the removal of organic compounds. Two thermal gases and four acid aqueous solutions were employed to regenerate the spent catalyst. The basic properties of the spent and its modified catalysts were characterized by XRD, BET, TPR, and ICP. It was found that the iron based spent catalyst has a good efficiency for removing the hazardous compounds. The obtained results also indicated that the thermal air or acid aqueous treatments significantly enhanced the catalytic activity of the spent catalyst. |
