Preparation of Nanoscaled Poly(vinyl acetate) Fibers by Electrospinning Method |

Nanoscaled Poly(vinyl acetate) (PVAc) fibers were prepared by electrospinning technique. In our experiment, the co-solvent containing THF(tetrahydrofuran) and DMF(dimethyl formamide) were used to prepare the PVAc solution. The morphology of PVAc fibers was strongly affected by the ratio of THF to DMF. The thinner diameter of PVAc fibers was got with lower ratio of THF to DMF. But the conjunctions were formed because of the high boiling point of DMF(153℃) to be difficult to evaporate on the fiber surface in a short time. The larger diameter of PVAc fibers were got with higher ratio of THF to DMF, and the amount of conjunctions was decreased because THF had a low boiling point(66℃). We expect that the nanoscaled fibers give a widely potential application of hydrophobic PVAc.
