Control of Crystallinity via Terpolymer Approach in Diketopyrrolopyrrole-Based Polymers Semiconductors |

Tuning crystalline properties of polymers has been proven to boost electrical performance in conjugated polymers. Herein, a new series of conjugated random terpolymers was synthesized from an electron-deficient diketopyrrolopyrrole-based unit in conjugation with two electron-rich selenophene and thiophene species. The crystallinity of the terpolymers could be systematically controlled by tuning the ratio between the two species. An increase in selenophene content induced a remarkable enhancement in crystallinity of the terpolymers. These changes in the crystalline properties of polymers had a dramatic effect on the performances of organic field-effect transistors. The investigation of control of crystallinity via terpolymer approach in this work can provide new insight into the molecular design of high-performance polymer semiconductors. |
