A superabsorbent composites based on acrylic acid, acrylamide, carboxymethyl cellulose and carboxymethyl chitosan were synthesized through a solution polymerization to improve water absorbencies. The superabsorbent composite was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The swelling of hydrogel is pH dependent; the swelling of hydrogel increases with increasing the pH of the bathing media, the highest swelling was in neutral and alkali solution. By studying the water absorption the polymer synthesized under different conditions, the optimal conditions for synthesizing the polymer with the highest swelling ratio was defined. |
