제목 Microfluidic Generation of Tissue-specific Beads
초록 Microfluidic technique has been applied for microbead generation and the produced microbeads can be utilized in various biomedical fields including 3D cell culture and cell therapy due to their biocompatibility and injectability. Here, we show a tissue bead platform using a flow-focusing microfluidic device to provide tissue-specific microenvironments for enhanced cell culture and functionality. Various tissue-specific extracellular matrices (ECM) were derived from native tissues, which were then used to generate uniform-sized tissue microbeads with a flow-focusing microfluidic device. Tissue-specific microbeads significantly enhanced the viability, maturation, and functionality of the corresponding cell type. This study suggests that tissue-derived matrix combined with microfluidic technique can be used to produce tissue-specific microbeads with increased versatility and efficacy.
